Senior Pastor

Herbert Freeman, Jr., is a native of Beaufort, South Carolina, and founding pastor of Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ in Huntsville, Alabama. In August of 2005, he was appointed District Superintendent of the Progressive District by Bishop O.L. Meadows. He serves as Treasure of the Pastors and Elders Council (Alabama First Jurisdiction, Bishop O.L. Meadows Prelate). He is a mentor, counselor, and a man of integrity that is dedicated to being an example of righteous living and teaching God’s people how to experience the abundant life in Jesus Christ.

Supt. Freeman is a man of patience endowed with great wisdom and is well respected for his integrity and compassion for others. After being saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1980, he has served faithfully in the Church of God in Christ in many capacities including Choir President, Director, Pianist, Sunday School Superintendent, and Financial Secretary. His passion for the Kingdom has extended to being a part of evangelism, mission, and prison ministries. While under the leadership of the late Bishop W. S. Harris, (Alabama Second Jurisdiction) he became an adjutant and a deacon. After faithfully serving 16 years as a deacon, he was licensed as a minister in 1997 and shortly afterwards ordained as an Elder. He has pastored Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ graciously for more than 16 years. 

After 30 successful years of military service, Superintendent Freeman retired from the United States Army where he earned several medals including 3 Commendation medals, 5 Achievement and Good Conduct Medals, and a medal for the Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development.

 

Superintendent Freeman acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Management from Columbia College in Columbus, MO. 

Supt. Freeman is happily married to District Supervisor Debora Freeman, they celebrated 33 years of marriage in August of 2021. To this union, they have one son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Kambria, and two grandsons, Kyle and Myles.

First Lady

Debora Freeman is a humble woman of God making a positive impact in today’s society. Raised in the church by godly parents, she has been faithful to God’s call to teach his word since 1975 after receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Her teaching experience includes Sunday School, conferences, bible studies, and other speaking engagements. As a licensed evangelist in the Church of God in Christ, she has blessed and inspired many. Debora Freeman has a charismatic style and powerful ministry along with her musical talent. 

 

With a willingness to work, she has served and currently serves as District Missionary of the Progressive District (Huntsville, AL) since September of 2005.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in Programming. Debora Freeman is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Her purpose is to glorify God while using her education to serve others. 

Debora Freeman is the wife of Superintendent Herbert Freeman, Jr., founder and pastor of the Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ. They reside in Huntsville, Alabama with one son (Michael), daughter in-law (Kambria), and two grandsons (Kyle and Myles). In her leisure, she enjoys spending time with family, sewing, and playing the organ. Most of all, she seeks to please God and to fulfill his divine purpose for her life.
