History

The Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ was birthed on November 22, 2001 when a small group of believers gathered for a Thanksgiving Day service at 3400 Blue Spring Road, Suite B2 in Huntsville, Alabama.  As the founder, Superintendent Freeman was officially appointed as pastor of Greater Harvest in March of 2002 by Bishop O. L. Meadows, Alabama First Jurisdictional Bishop.  Superintendent Freeman’s pastoral work and spiritual dedication to the church is highly commendable.  Being a man of impeccable character, wisdom, and ultimate dedication to the will and purpose of God, the church has grown spiritually strong through his teachings and applications of the Word of God.

Greater Harvest started its first service with jubilant praise and sincere worship in a place most would consider a storefront building.  However, the church is known as a church of praise.  During a Sunday worship service, April 2016, Supt. Freeman stated that “Every blessing deserves a praise.” It has always been the pastor’s desire that everyone who walked through the door of Greater Harvest feel God’s love and presence.  In fact, it became a common prayer and statement.  As people began to come, numerous testimonies were given of how they were overwhelmed by God’s love and the love shown by the church.

The ministry of Greater Harvest has reached out to its community by giving free food and clothing to those in need, visiting the sick in hospitals and nursing homes, and most of all sharing the good news of salvation. A fifteen-passenger van was purchased in May 2015 with the purpose of transporting those who want to attend the church.  The van was another blessing from the Lord and serves as a means to bring the lost to Jesus Christ.

Since its inception, the church has experienced God meeting the need of all church expenses being paid when due, witnessed several healing miracles and deliverances, and seen people develop their relationship with God.  Superintendent Freeman’s vision is to have a larger equipped church building to house the harvest of souls.  The Lord has done great things for Greater Harvest and we are persuaded of greater things to come.

Mission

To preach the gospel or good news of the kingdom of God; offering the redemptive message to all ethnic groups throughout the world. We are laboring in the Lord’s harvest to gather lost souls, bind up the broken-hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, showing compassion toward the mistreated and healing the sick.
